Resurfacing of major roads in Milton and Burlington will affect traffic for the next year.
The roads affected are Derry Rd., between Walker’s Line and Appleby Line, and Appleby Line, between Derry Rd. and Britannia Rd.
“Halton Region annually resurfaces various roadways to maintain and extend their life cycle,” said a Halton Region spokesperson.
The project is beginning within the next two weeks and improvements will include:
- road repairs and resurfacing
- guiderail replacements
- driveway paving to property line on a case-by-case basis for each property (impacted properties will be notified in advance)
- new pavement markings
- minor ditch regrading and culvert cleanouts
- improved signage
To help local residents plan ahead for construction activity, the Region has supplied the following information. Wherever possible, mitigation plans will be put in place to minimize disruptions.
Driveway access: Direct access to your driveway may be restricted for short periods of time.
Lawn irrigation system: If you have a lawn irrigation system, please locate, disconnect and remove any sprinkler heads within the public road allowance.
Noise: You may experience noise as a result of Regional improvements.
Traffic delays: This work may cause traffic delays; lane shifts or lane restrictions. Every effort to minimize potential inconvenience will be taken. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
There are no changes to mail delivery or garbage pickup anticipated.
A Construction Ambassador has been assigned to this project and can meet with affected residents to address any questions about the project.
As construction proceeds, the Region will communicate through an enhanced communications strategy including a project website, notices to property owners and construction signboards.
Updates to the construction schedule will be available on the Halton Region Road Resurfacing Program webpage.
