Work on the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge is complete.
The OPP Safety Division announced around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 10) that construction on the deck replacement project is complete and all four lanes are now open.
“Good news for commuters in the Hamilton/Burlington area,” said OPP.
Commuters are reminded that the maximum speed on Eastport Drive is 50 km/hr. Burlington OPP will watch for speeders between the QEW ramps on each side.
The lift bridge has been undergoing $32 million worth of repairs and maintenance which began in 2022 and has led to traffic disruptions in the area over the two years.
The federal government project was undertaken to extend the life of the bridge, which serves as a vital link between Hamilton and Burlington.
