Woman sent to hospital after being robbed in Burlington shopping mall parking lot

An older woman was taken to hospital after being robbed outside Mapleview Shopping Centre in Burlington.
The attack happened just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, when a woman was followed outside the mall by a male suspect after purchasing a laptop computer at the Apple Store.
According to Halton police, who are investigating, the victim was knocked to the ground by the suspect once she exited the mall and her computer was stolen. The robbery took place in the southeast parking lot area and the victim used the exit facing Maple Avenue.
The victim suffered injuries that required her to be taken to hospital, but are not considered life-threatening.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 50 years-old with a thin build. He was wearing dark clothing with a cap and sunglasses. He is believed to have fled the scene in a dark-coloured sedan at a high rate of speed.
Halton police would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or who have dashcam footage of the area surrounding Mapleview Mall from Oct. 12 at around 4:20 p.m.
