Several Town of Oakville facilities will be closed for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Saturday (Sept. 25).
The federal statutory holiday is a day to honour the healing journeys of residential school survivors and their families and a time to engage in meaningful discussions about the history and legacy of the residential school system.
The day coincides with Orange Shirt Day on Sept. 30 and honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Orange Shirt Day.

“We acknowledge and thank the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation for being stewards of this territory.”
