July 1 will see a day-long series of events, mostly at Spencer Smith Park in Burlington

Sponsored by Burlington 150 and Bunzl, Canada Day activities promise a little something for everyone.

Starting in the morning there will be yoga in the park as well as 1 km and 5 km runs.

Moving over to Civic Square, a Canadian citizenship ceremony will be held at 1 p.m.

Back at the park, activities officially kick-off at 4 p.m. with remarks from Mayor Marianne Meed Ward, entertainment by the Burlington Teen Band, and appearances by other special guests.

Musical entertainment will continue throughout the day with vendors and food sellers available throughout the park.

The day will be capped off with fireworks at 10 p.m.

Downtown parking will be limited during Canada Day festivities. Residents are encouraged to consider other transportation options such as cycling, walking, carpooling or Burlington Transit.

Also, fully accessible, free shuttle service will run from 2 to 11 p.m. The shuttle will make stops at the Burlington GO Station (north side) and travel to the downtown bus terminal. Free bike parking will be available near the Waterfront Hotel for cyclists to secure their bikes.

Burlington Transit is extending holiday service on most routes until 11 p.m. on July 1. Plan your trip on myride.burlington.ca and leave the driving to us on Canada Day.
