Weapon and drug charges filed against Burlington man

A Burlington man faces weapon and drug charges following an investigation by police in Toronto.

According to reports, a loaded handgun with 11 rounds of communication was discovered by Toronto police during their bust which also led to the arrest of three other people. A quantity of drugs was also found.

21-year-old Aaron Verghese of Burlington was charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Careless storage of ammunition
  • Occupy motor vehicle with a firearm
  • Carry concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
  • Possess prohibited/restricted device (overcapacity magazine) while not authorized
  • Trafficking of a substance
  • Three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking of a substance
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime – Under ($5000)

All those charged appeared in court on July 2 at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre.
