A logistics warehouse has been approved for Burlington that will serve as a major distribution centre for several businesses.
The one-storey warehouse will be 325,328 square feet and include 44 loading docks. Two entrances will be located on Palladium Way.
Slated for a vacant property on Appleby Line north of Dundas St. and just below Hwy. 407, once open the warehouse is expected to become a busy logistic hub serving Southern Ontario as well as creating several jobs.
While there was some local opposition to the plans, in approving the project the City of Burlington indicated the area is intended as a business corridor and the warehouse fits that use.
At a recent City of Burlington committee meeting, Ward 6 councillor Angelo Bentivegna said this type of business is needed to supply jobs for residents and is appropriately placed considering its proximity to the highway.
A timeframe for construction has not been announced.
