A couple from Halton Hills is planning a vacation after a million dollar Lotto 6/49 win.
Clayton Morris and Josephine Nibbering of Georgetown can “find their possible” after winning the jackpot in the Gold Ball Draw on June 28.
Morris and Nibbering, both 58, have been married for 33 years. Together, they enjoy playing Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max, and occasionally purchase instant tickets. This is their first big win.
Nibbering said she and her husband were at home when she checked their ticket on the OLG App. “
My phone made the winning sound, and we jumped up and down,” she said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their windfall. “At first, we thought we won $1,000!”
“It was a very exciting moment,” Morris added.
After sharing the news with their son, “he told me to put on my glasses,” said Nibbering. “When he saw the message on my phone, he was very surprised and did a double take.”
With their winnings, the pair will manage their finances and plan a vacation or two. The couple is also expecting their first grandchild and look forward to the security they can provide.
“This win gives us a sense of security for our retirement,” said Morris. “It’s life-changing.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Metro on Mountainview Rd. in Georgetown.
