The timeline for a pair of road construction projects in Oakville has been updated by Halton Region.

Last year the Region started watermain and wastewater main improvements on Lees Lane and Secord Avenue, in Oakville. The reason for the work is to maintain the existing infrastructure in a state of good repair and ensure the continued delivery of reliable water and wastewater services.

“The anticipated construction completion date has not changed, and works are still anticipated to be completed by the end of June, 2024,” said a Region spokesperson.

Here’s the updated information for the project.

Lees Lane: To date, mainline works on the water and wastewater mains have been completed. Ongoing works include water and wastewater service connections which are expected to be completed by May, weather permitting. Restoration, including sodding, driveway repair, and road paving will closely follow these works.

Secord Avenue: The contractor will mobilize to the site with wastewater main and watermain improvements commencing late March, weather permitting. At this time, we anticipate that restoration work will take place in June.

Homeowners should expect the following disruptions:

  • There may be increased levels of dust and mud near the work site. The contractor is required to manage these impacts.
  • Direct access to your driveway may be restricted for short periods of time.
  • You may experience noise as a result of Regional improvements.
  • Final property restoration will be completed towards the end of the construction project.
  • To accommodate these watermain and wastewater main improvements a certified arborist will remove trees in pre-determined locations. Some pruning of hazardous trees and limbs may also be required. To offset the tree removals new trees will be replanted in accordance with Regional and local policies.
  • Your garbage and recycling will continue to be picked up on your regular scheduled collection day.
  • There may be some disruption to your water services during the course of the project. Halton Region will provide at least 48 hours advance written notice of any scheduled shutdowns or disruptions.
