Charges have been laid against the three youths and one adult who were arrested following an armed robbery at an Oakville pharmacy Monday.

On Jan. 15, at about 7:30 pm, four masked suspects allegedly committed an armed robbery at the PharmaSense Pharmacy on Westoak Trails.

Halton police say the suspects entered the pharmacy armed with a handgun, assaulted multiple employees and stole a small quantity of narcotics and cash.

All suspects then fled in a stolen vehicle.

Police responded and located the suspect vehicle in the area of the pharmacy. After a short pursuit, the car came to a stop and the suspects fled on foot. A short foot chase ensued, which resulted in the arrest of all four suspects.

A handgun, determined to be a replica firearm, was recovered along with the cash and narcotics taken during the robbery.

The pharmacy was using a time-delayed safe which prevented the thieves from obtaining the potent narcotics they were seeking.

As of last March, the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) requires all community pharmacies to use time-delayed safes for securing narcotics.

Two 14-year-olds, one 16-year-old and one 18-year-old, were charged by police and held for bail. All accused are from Toronto.

All four have been charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, weapons dangerous and possession of stolen property.

On of the 14-year-olds has also been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fleeing police and failing to comply with a release order.

The 16-year-old male has also been charged with pointing a firearm and the 18-year-old has been charged with failure to comply with release order.
