Two residential apartment buildings with almost 600 residential dwelling units have been proposed in the Town of Milton.
As a result, the applicant, Korsiak Urban Planning, is seeking an amendment to the Town’s Official Plan and zoning bylaw to accommodate the redevelopment of the lands known as 560 Main Street East.
The application proposes two apartment buildings with heights of 17 and 20 storeys atop six-storey podiums.
The proposal also includes three levels of underground parking which connects the two towers and provides a total of 548 parking spaces.
The parking spaces would both be at grade and within the proposed buildings to be located on-site. Site access would be provided with an extension to Wilson Drive. This would be in association with updated access to the GO station to the east that is being proposed by Metrolinx.
The subject lands are located on the south side of Main Street East and are currently vacant.
The site was formerly occupied by Milton Pigment and Chemical which stopped its operation several years ago. Since then, the site has been environmentally restored to a residential standard.
The subject lands are approximately 1.2 hectares in size with roughly 148 metres of frontage along Main Street.
Surrounding uses include the Canadian Pacific Rail network which includes GO train lines to the south and west. There are also existing commercial uses to the west, north and east that include the Milton GO station.
Additionally, further to the north beyond some long-established commercial uses along the north side of Main Street, there are existing residential uses that consist of low-density uses known as Dorset Park.
This application is set to be discussed at an upcoming council meeting on Oct. 25.
