Two people have been arrested and are facing multiple charges after an OPP officer was notified by an Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) camera of a stolen vehicle in Burlington.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday (Jan. 21), near Maple Avenue and Ontario Street in Burlington, an OPP officer was alerted through an ALPR  system—a device which continuously scans license plates as the officer patrols the city. If the officer receives a notification of a “hit,” they will then take the necessary enforcement action.

The OPP reports the officer discovered two individuals inside a stolen vehicle, along with other stolen property.

A subsequent investigation uncovered that the accused individuals were also in violation of bail conditions.

Authorities have refrained from disclosing the details of the specific violations.

The identities of the involved suspects, including their names, ages, places of residence and photos, have not been released to the public.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes accessible.
