​Two men have been arrested in relation to a violent sexual assault case in Burlington.

In late August, members of the Halton Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit (CASA) commenced an investigation after a female victim was brutally sexually assaulted.

Police state that the woman attended a business located on Harvester Road in Burlington, between Walkers Line and Appleby Line, where she was administered a harmful substance and violently sexually assaulted by two male suspects.

Police say the first suspect allegedly befriended the victim on Facebook before meeting with her and utilized the name “Sharifulla Mokbel.”

The second suspect was also active on social media, going by the screen name “Pena R-One” on Facebook, and “pena619” on Instagram.

Police believe the two accused may also be active on other social media platforms.

On September 4, members of the CASA Unit arrested both suspects and held them pending a bail hearing. A second court appearance is scheduled to be held in Milton on September 6.

The first suspect, Sharifulla (Sharif) Mokbel, 27, of North York has been charged with:

  • Sex Assault Cause Bodily Harm
  • Administer Noxious Substance
  • Gang Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Assault

The second suspect, Satlykglylych Gafuri, 27, of Toronto has been charged with:

  • Gang Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Assault
