There won’t be any change at the top of the Halton Catholic District School Board this year, as both the chair and vice-chair were re-elected.

Milton trustee Marvin Duarte, will returns as chair of the board, and Burlington trustee Brenda Agnew is back as vice-chair.

Both will serve a one-year term, ending in November 2024.

“I express my gratitude to the trustees for their trust in re-electing me,” said Durate.

“My commitment is to uphold the highest standards of excellence across all HCDSB schools. We will continue to focus on developing proficiency in reading, writing, arithmetic, and nurturing our Catholic faith to enhance every aspect of our students’ education. Whether through curricular or extra-curricular activities, our goal is to provide each student with the chance to thrive within the HCDSB’s pillars of achieving, believing, and belonging.”

The school board meets on the first Tuesday and the third Tuesday of each month to discuss matters related to student achievement; serving as ambassadors to our school communities and Catholic education; and accountable for the decisions made by the Board.

“I extend my sincere thanks to my fellow trustees for choosing me as vice-chair of the Board,” said Agnew.

“I am excited about working alongside the chair in this capacity, and I commit to making decisions that consistently prioritize the best interests of student achievement and well-being.”
