Transformer explosion in Milton results in major power outage

A transformer explosion that occurred on Wednesday (Mar. 23) in Milton resulted in a major power outage for thousands of residents.
Just after 8:30 p.m., Milton Hydro confirmed the power outage and just before 10:00 p.m., Halton police confirmed that a hydro pole was down on Ontario St. North.
Police said they were on scene with Milton Hydro and Ontario St. North by George, Broadway and Woodward were closed as a result while crews fixed the power.

Over 3,000 customers were affected by the outage, according to Milton Hydro.
Roads have since reopened and power has been restored.
