Burlington fire firefighter townhouse arson

Arson is suspected at a Burlington townhouse complex under construction, the second time the site has been targeted.

Emergency crews were called out to the six-unit complex on Turnberry Road near Appleby Line around 6 a.m. this morning (Oct. 11).

When firefighters arrived at the scene they were met with smoke and flames coming from the buildings.

It is believed the buildings were unoccupied and no injuries have been reported.

Because of the suspicious nature of the blaze, the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.

It is believed the fire started on the main floor of one of the units.

Damage has been estimated at $2 million.

More than a year ago, in August of 2023, the same townhouse complex was also involved in a suspicious fire.

That fire destroyed the buildings that were under construction with damage set at $3 million.
