Halton police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the fire that caused extensive damage to a Tim Hortons shop in Burlington.
The blaze broke out around 1:30 a.m. this morning (Dec. 21) at the store located on Brant St. at Upper Middle Rd.
The extent of the damage done to the store has not yet been determined but it was extensive enough to shut down the location.
According to reports, when emergency crews arrived at the scene they found several garbage cans on fire one of which led to the blaze at the store.
Police say a person was found at the scene and arrested.
A further investigation led police to believe that the same person was connected to several other recent dumpster fires in the area.
Subsequently, a 69-year-old man of no fixed address is faced with four counts of arson. His name has not been released.
In all cases, there were no injuries.
