September 27

Burlington:

Arts and Culture Council of Burlington – Culture Days

This free event, taking place at Burlington Seniors Centre will showcase a variety of performing artists from different genres, including artwork.

Burlington Centre Lions Farmers’ Market

Find fresh, locally grown produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses, and more at the Burlington Centre Lions Farmers’ Market. Support local farmers and enjoy everything from apples to zucchini.

The Invention of Romance

Love can be tricky at any age. In this charming rom-com, 30-something Kate navigates a series of disastrous dates, while her widowed mother rekindles a romance from 60 years ago. Directed by Michelle Spanik and produced by Michael Hannigan, this play explores the meaning of love across generations.

Dessert Walking Tours

Explore downtown Burlington’s best dessert spots with a curated walking tour, featuring 4-5 iconic stops along the core and waterfront. Burlington tree photo contest

Celebrate local trees by sharing your best Burlington tree photo for a chance to win a $50 Connon Nurseries gift card.

To enter:

  • Take a photo of a tree in Burlington.
  • Write a short description, including the location.
  • Email your photo and blurb to [email protected] by October 10th.

Ensure your last name is in the file name and subject line. Photos will be posted online for community voting. Participants must note only one tree photo per person and submissions must be of Burlington trees.

Milton:

Milton Fall Fair

The event will showcase agriculture through friendly competitions, craft exhibits, truck and tractor pulls, horse shows, a demolition derby, and live entertainment. Attendees can also enjoy a midway, vendors, food and refreshments. Tickets range between $5 and $15.

The Burlington Performing Arts Centre – Culture days

The Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC) is excited to participate in this year’s Ontario Culture Days Festival, an annual celebration of arts and culture across the province. The event will offer a full day of free and accessible community programming to support and engage the arts community with performances and interactive activities.  Additionally, backstage tours will be available every 30 minutes starting at noon.

Nickel Brook Oktoberfest

An Oktoberfest party is set to take place, with all proceeds benefiting the Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton. The event will feature live music from Wednesday’s Engine, along with food provided by Denninger’s, offering a choice of schnitzel or sausage, two sides, and evening snacks. Tickets begin at $43. 93

Milton:

Fall Into Nature: Little Anglers’ Fishing Derby

Area 8 is hosting its first kids’ fishing derby. Children 8 years old and under can participate by fishing off the docks, rocks, or by renting a canoe or kayak. The goal is to catch the biggest fish, win a trophy and release it back into the lake.

African Dance Workshop

This program will explore the historical development of African musical instruments and songs, focusing on the connection between music, particularly drumming and dance, as a cultural activity.

Oakville:

Oakville Navratri Bazaar

The Oakville Navratri Bazaar is a family-friendly event, and admission is free. Attendees can enjoy food, henna art and a variety of stalls selling clothes, jewelry and home decor.

Agriculture in early Trafalgar Township

In celebration of Culture Days, the Trafalgar Township Historical Society has organized a set of experiences highlighting the area’s farming history.

Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including:

  • The Blacksmith shop
  • A petting farm
  • Displays of early engines, rope making, plows, and tractors
  • The Vintage store
  • A horse-drawn dairy wagon
  • Pollinator display and education
  • Tours of the old Palermo one-room schoolhouse

Oakville Museum Exhibit: The Home Team Wins, Oakville’s Hockey Clubs

This display, which is held at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, explores Oakville’s hockey history, from early games played on frozen ponds to the competitive teams representing the town today.

Oakville motionball Marathon of Sport

The 2024 Motionball Marathon of Sport Oakville will take place at Appleby College. The event brings together teams of young professionals and local Special Olympics athletes for a fun day of sports while raising funds and awareness.

Participants will play a variety of sports, including soccer, football, basketball, kickball, and ultimate frisbee. Each team member will receive a Motionball t-shirt and hat, light breakfast, lunch, a drink at the after-party and fundraising incentives. Most importantly, the day offers a chance to team up with Special Olympics athletes supported by Motionball.

Burlington:

Run for Burlington 2024

The Run For Burlington invites participants of all fitness levels to Spencer Smith Park in Burlington for a fun-filled day of running, jogging or walking. The event offers an opportunity to get active and engage with the community, all for a great cause.

Milton:

Milton Farmers’ Market
With over 40 market vendors, shoppers can find fresh local products, including fruits, produce, meats, homemade sauces, baked goods, flowers, popcorn and more. Admission and parking are free.

Vychodna Slovak Dancers- 40th Anniversary

The Vychodna Slovak Dancers will celebrate 40 years of Slovak folklore and traditions in Canada. The event will feature traditional dances from Slovakia with special performances by the Zemplin Orchestra. Tickets are $40

Oakville:

Oakville 21.1 – Half marathon

Participants will run a fast, flat, scenic course along the lakeshore, passing through some of Oakville’s picturesque neighbourhoods. This course is ideal for setting a personal best or enjoying a day of active fun with the whole family.

5 km – $55 – $70
10 km – $65- $85
21.1 km – $110 – $150
