Still deciding what to do this weekend? Fall is here and even though it is a bit chilly, there are still many outdoor activities to enjoy (and some indoor ones, too). You can keep busy in Burlington, Milton and Oakville with fall fairs, public walks and museum visits. Here’s what’s happening from Oct. 4 to Oct. 6.


October 4

Burlington:

Beachway Public Art

The City of Burlington public art program has curated a temporary art project featuring the work of twenty local visual artists and writers. The temporary signs will be installed near Beachway Park.

Art and the City

Art and the City, a self-guided downtown public art walking tour. Get up close and personal with public art. Find out more about Burlington’s downtown and learn about public art in the process. The web-based map works across all platforms and allows residents and visitors to tour more than 25 highlights from the public art collection using any internet-enabled smartphone or tablet.

Milton:

Milton Night Market

The popular outdoor event returns to Milton Fairgrounds this weekend with a fall sangria bar, warm cider, psychic circle, wine or beer glass painting and friendship bracelet making. There will also be outdoor sunset movies at 7:30 p.m. on both Friday (Beetlejuice) and Saturday (HalloweenTown). Vendors, food trucks, pie-eating contests for adults and more. The event theme is Fall in California. Come dressed in your best tropical clothing.

Oakville:

The Great Bronte Heritage Sites Scavenger Hunt

Set out on an adventure and try to find some of Bronte’s heritage sites, both official and unofficial, by following the clues. The winner will receive a $100 gift card, a 2025 membership to Bronte Historical Society and an original print of historic Bronte. Participants can pick up the map at the Sovereign House or the Bronte BIA.

Story Slam

Have you ever wondered why you relate to a certain fairy tale or a myth from a long time ago? Is there a hero or villain you connect to that mirrors your life? Filled with laughter and tears, the Story Slam Series provides an authentic and powerful interaction between storytellers and the audience. Story Slams are presented in support of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).

October 5

Burlington:

Falling for Downtown Burlington

There is nothing quite like a good old-fashioned autumn gathering! The businesses of Burlington Downtown invite you to pull on your fleece, lace up those boots and take part in a day of free fall fun. Falling for Burlington Downtown will take you through the city’s downtown area where you have a chance to enjoy many of the specials that the shops and restaurants will present. Black Gold

Black Gold…Songs that Touch Your Soul is a dynamic high-energy music review featuring an all-star cast performing the solid gold hits of the superstars of Motown, rhythm & blues, rock’n’roll, disco and soul. The show includes such songs as: Dancing in The Streets, Heat Wave, Do You Love Me, My Girl, Da Doo Ron Ron, He’s So Fine, Under the Boardwalk, Stop in the Name of Love, Stand by Me, Endless Love, One Moment in Time, Simply the Best, and many more! Marc Garneau

Canada’s first astronaut, Marc Garneau will talk about his space mission and his life politics and introduce his new book. This event takes place on the 40th anniversary of Garneau’s historic voyage. The event is part of Culture Days in Burlington. You can register for the event here.

Travelling Navratri Display

Come see Travelling Navratri, a showcase of how the South Asian Diaspora celebrates this nine-day festival. Immerse yourself in the rich traditions, vibrant colours, and lively rhythms of Navratri. Experience the essence of South Asian culture through dance, cuisine, and festivities. All are welcome to this cultural journey, whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or new to the celebrations.

We Are Still Here: Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation

Darin Wybenga, Traditional Knowledge and Land Use Coordinator of Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, will provide a brief overview of the history of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and treaties relevant to the land on which Milton is located.

Downtown Farmers’ Market

Time is running out on this year’s Farmers’ Market. More than 50 local vendors with fresh local products, including produce, homemade sauces, and baked goods. Grab something to eat, some flowers to decorate your home or a bag of popcorn to enjoy while you explore along Main St.

Oakville Historical Society Fall Fair

Are you looking for some tasty baked goods or small unique gifts to share with your family and friends this weekend? Why not check out the Oakville Historical Society Fall Fair? Plus you and your family can dress up in pioneer costumes and have your picture taken (using your phone).

Oakville Museum Exhibit: The Home Team Wins, Oakville’s Hockey Clubs

This display, which is held at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, explores Oakville’s hockey history, from early games played on frozen ponds to the competitive teams representing the town today.

October 6

Burlington:

Run for the Cure

One of Canada’s largest fundraising events takes place this weekend, The CIBC Run for the Cure is held annually to raise funds for breast cancer research and support for those who are undergoing treatment. To make room for the participants, some high-traffic lanes and street closures will take place in downtown Burlington.

Milton:

Milton October Festival
Milton October Festival is a free, family-friendly fabulous fall celebration bursting with local, fun and flavour. Dive into a day of delights a large local vendor marketplace, where you can discover unique treasures and support your favourite local artisans. Groove to the tunes of live music that will keep your toes tapping all day long, and indulge in mouthwatering bites from a variety of food trucks serving up fall-inspired treats.

Oakville Museum Exhibit: The Home Team Wins, Oakville’s Hockey Clubs

Long before artificial rinks, organized leagues, and matching uniforms, folks were strapping on skates and shovelling off sections of frozen ponds and rivers to play with friends and family. This display spans the history of Oakville’s hockey teams from their modest beginnings on local waterways to the dozens of competitive teams representing our community at local, provincial, and national levels today.
