Halton police Burlington arson homes

A lengthy investigation into two deliberately set fires at the same location has led to the arrests of three men.

The incidents took place in December of last year when fire crews had to battle flames on Lodi Road near Dundas Street and Walkers Line in Burlington on Dec. 2 and then again on Dec. 4.

Halton police say the first fire caused minor damage but two days later the fire destroyed three unoccupied homes while damaging others.

The estimated cost of both fires was $1.7 million.

Police say the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau was actively involved in the investigation.

In connection with the fire that took place on Dec. 2, 2023, the following persons have been arrested:

  • Zani Redzepovski (34) of Ajax has been charged with one count of arson, damage to property.
  • Lee Anthony (40) of Courtice has also been charged with one count of arson, damage to property.

For the fire that took place on Dec. 4, 2023, the following persons have been arrested:

  • Lee Anthony (40) of Courtice has been charged with one count of arson with disregard for human life.
  • Barry Neads (38) of Clarington has also been with one count of arson with disregard for human life.

The charge of arson with disregard for human life is filed when police believe a fire was intentionally or recklessly started that could risk serious harm or death to others.

All three accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
