A comedian with multiple Netflix specials is bringing her show to Oakville next week.

Maria Bamford is a stand-up comedian, actor, and New York Times bestselling author with her memoir Sure, I’ll Join Your Cult.

Stephen Colbert called her his “favourite comedian on earth,” and Judd Apatow said she is “the funniest woman in the world”.

She is revered for her deeply personal and experimental comedy about mental illness.

In addition to the Netflix specials, she also created and starred in Lady Dynamite, a surreal, semi-autobiographical comedy series about a comedian who suffers a nervous breakdown.

She was also the first female comic to have two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials and starred alongside Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis and Brian Posehn in The Comedians of Comedy. She also created and starred in the cult hit web series The Maria Bamford Show, in which she plays all the characters.

Her newest comedy special, Local Act, will be available on Apple TV, in December.

She will be appearing at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Tickets cost $85 and are available at the online box office.
