Take an e-test ride, drop off unwanted electronics at Burlington Centre’s eco-friendly day

A day of environmentally-friendly events is being held tomorrow at Burlington Centre.

BurlingtonGreen, a group with a mandate to protect and care for the environment, is hosting a free Take Action Day Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

There are several events planned.

Zero Waste Drop-off: Gather your broken/unwanted electronics along with select items to be recycled and repurposed to bring along for responsible recycling with R2-certified Tech Genius. Stop by the Halton Region information table to learn more about local recycling and waste management.

Volunteers from the Burlington Repair Cafe will be on hand from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to help fix small broken or damaged household items avoiding items being sent to the landfill. Advance registration is required by emailing [email protected].

Greener Travel: Discover ways to switch to sustainable transportation while saving money. EV, E-bike, E-scooter showcase with free test drives/rides with Plug ‘N Drive, Vintage Iron E-Cycles and Scooty.

Enjoy tours of a Burlington Transit bus while learning about free fare opportunities.

Team members from the City of Burlington, Smart Commute and Safe Streets Halton will share information about safe travel and local transit, walking, carpooling, and cycling opportunities.

Recycle Unwanted Gold and Silver: Complimentary evaluation by Minty Gold & Silver Exchange. If you sell, you can choose to donate to BurlingtonGreen.

There will also be a fee prizes courtesy of the Burlington Centre, Vintage Iron E-cycles and BurlingtonGreen.

For the kids, there will be some eco-fun including crafty button-making, spin the eco-trivia wheel, and the popular bean bag toss.

Visitors are also encouraged to bring along some non-perishable food items and personal care products to donate to the Compassion Society.
