Swimmers will have to find a new pool when this one in Oakville closes for renovations

If your regular pool in Oakville is at Iroquois Ridge Community Centre, you’ll have to make alternate plans beginning in the new year.

The Town of Oakville is planning a series of improvements designed to improve the experience.

“With equipment nearing the end of its lifecycle, the upgrades at Iroquois Ridge will see the replacement of key mechanical, structural and technical components vital to the continued safe operation of the facility,” said a spokesperson.

Renovations are expected to take place over a six-month period, starting Jan. 2, 2025, to improve operational efficiency, modernize the facility, and enhance the overall customer and visitor experience.

During the renovations, the pool will be closed. To accommodate aquatics program users, additional swim lessons will be offered at other Oakville locations. More daytime programming is also planned for White Oaks pool, located at 1330 Montclair Drive.

In addition, one outdoor pool will open earlier in spring 2025 to accommodate more swimming opportunities.

There will be minimal operational impact to the other amenities inside the community centre. The fitness centre, community rooms, older adult centre and Oakville Public Library branch will remain open.

Impacted customers and rental clients will be kept informed of any temporary service disruptions and alternative options will be provided whenever possible.

Key highlights of the renovation include:

• A newly-designed, fully-accessible customer service desk, providing an enhanced experience with improved flow and efficiency
• Heat pump replacement throughout the facility for energy efficiency and to ensure comfortable temperatures year-round
• Complete overhaul of the pool HVAC system, significantly improving energy efficiency, reducing utility costs, and enhancing air quality for all users
• Replacement of pool deck lighting, with more energy efficient fixtures
• Tile replacement, offering a fresh and modern look throughout the community centre, including re-tiling of the pool deck area
