Swimmer drowns in waters off Burlington

The body of a man was pulled from the waters off Lake Ontario in Burlington on Saturday (Sept. 16).

According to accounts, the man was swimming near Burlington Beach around 3 p.m. but was reported missing after failing to resurface.

Emergency crews responded to the area near Channel Pier to conduct a search as part of a rescue mission but eventually, the body was recovered near Lakeshore Rd. and Eastport Dr.

The identity of the 55-year-old has not been released

Police are investigating the incident.
