Police are on the hunt for a thief who reportedly followed an SUV, forced it off the road and threatened the driver before stealing the vehicle in Halton Hills last week.
Halton Regional Police say the incident happened on Nov. 4, during the evening rush hour around 6 p.m., when the driver of an SUV moving southbound on 8th Line, north of Steeles Ave., was cut off by another vehicle that had allegedly been following him.
A man exited the suspect vehicle and demanded the victim surrender the SUV. The suspect then took off in the SUV, fleeing north on 8th Line toward 5 Side Road.
No weapons were seen or used during the incident and the victim was uninjured, police say.
Investigators describe the suspect as approximately 20 years old. No physical description is available, as the suspect reportedly wore a face mask.
The suspect is believed to have been driving a black Honda Civic sedan, though police have not confirmed the vehicle’s license plate number.
Police are urging anyone with information, including security or dash cam footage from the area between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., to contact Detective Simon Burden of the One District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2416.
