A major retailer in Halton Hills was closed for a time this morning after a suspected fire.

Halton Hills Fire Department got a call at 7:22 this morning (Aug. 22) of a possible fire at the Walmart located at 300 Guelph St. in Georgetown.

“Upon arrival all workers had evacuated and all electric breakers were turned off,” said a spokesperson.

“Crews went in to investigate and found light smoke smelling like an electrical incident. The smoke was weakening. Upon further investigation of all electric systems no problems were found. All breakers were turned back on and crews waited to see if there were any issues, non were found.”

Firefighters left the store after about an hour and it reopened a little while later.

No injuries or damage were reported.
