An overnight storm is being blamed for the power outage in Burlington that has affected more than 1,700 customers today (Sept. 7).
Burlington Hydro reports that a fallen tree branch is responsible for taking out a power line that has caused the disruption in one area while another outage is still under investigation.
One large area where the power is out is located east of Brant St., north of New St., south of Ghent Ave. and west of Guelph Line.
The other affected area is east of Maple Ave., north of Hammond St., south of Plains Rd. E. and west of Hager Ave.
As well as homes and businesses, some schools are without power. The Burlington Food Bank is closed because of the blackout.
Burlington Hydro expects to get everything back online by early this afternoon.
