Young Milton readers can continue to ride Milton Transit for free for the rest of the summer.

Milton Transit, in partnership with the Milton Public Library, offers its annual Read and Ride program until Sept. 2.

The program provides youth, aged 16 and under, free access on Milton Transit buses simply by showing their validated library card to the bus driver upon boarding.

“The Read and Ride program is the perfect way for local youth to explore Milton this summer while connecting them to the many programs and resources offered by the Milton Public Library,” said Kanta Kapoor interim chief librarian.

“We are pleased to again partner with the Town of Milton for another exciting summer of reading.”

Transit validation stickers are free and are available at all Milton Public Library branches. Those interested in participating in the program, are required to place the validation sticker on their Milton Public Library card.

“Year after year, the Read and Ride program continues to be well received by the community and we’re excited to offer it once again,” said Tony D’Alessandro, director of Milton Transit.

“The aim of the program is to encourage youth within the community to explore the Town while continuing to foster the love of learning and reading over the summer months.”
