State-of-the-art space featuring a playground and skate park has just opened in Oakville

One of Oakville’s most prominent outdoor revitalization projects is now nearing completion, as the brand-new Sixteen Mile Park is now open to the public.

Constructed as part of a massive effort to revitalize the area formerly known as North Park, this new playground/park is only one of several additions to the outdoor space — as a new sports field and cricket location opened this past May.

Upon completion, the project will also feature a community facility, library and sports centre, which are all scheduled to open at some point in 2025.

In the meantime — while the rest of the project’s construction comes together — the newly opened Sixteen Mile Park provides Oakville residents with a fresh new space to engage in outdoor activities, as it is loaded to the brim with amenities.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Children’s playground
  • Skateboard park
  • Calisthenics workout space
  • Bike pump track
  • Bike repair station
