Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers sign Georgetown’s Entwistle

Georgetown native Mackenzie Entwistle has a new hockey home.

The 24-year-old forward, who spent the last five seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, has joined the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, signing a one-year, two-way contract with the Panthers on Tuesday night (July 2).

Entwistle played in a career-high 67 games with Chicago last season, equalling career best in scoring with five goals and six assists for 11 points.

The six-foot-three, 205-pound winger played in 193 career games with the Blackhawks, spending the last two full seasons with Chicago, while playing between their AHL affiliate in Rockford and the Blackhawks the first three seasons.

He has 15 goals and 20 assists for 35 points in the NHL.

Entwistle was originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the third round (69 overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft before being traded to Chicago in 2017 in a deal that saw the Hawks acquire him, Marcus Kruger, Jordan Maletta, Andrew Campbell and a fifth-round pick in 2019 for Marian Hossa, Vinnie Hinostroza, Jordan Oesterle and a third-round pick.
