Sports fields, diamonds closed for the day in Oakville

The sun may be out Monday afternoon (May 27), but the wet, soggy conditions in the morning were enough to put a damper on sports across Oakville for the rest of the day.

In a late afternoon post on social media, the Town of Oakville announced that all sports fields and baseball diamonds are closed for Monday.

“Our natural grass sports fields and baseball diamonds are closed because of rainfall saturation on (Monday),” said the Town. “Artificial turf fields remain open for permitted users.”

Field and diamond bookings for the day will be removed from the users’ permits and a credit will be placed in their account for future use.

The decision, said town officials, was made to protect the standards of the fields.
