The decision to open up the throttle and let rip on a busy Oakville street can prove costly for motorcycle drivers.

Halton Regional Police say they have been receiving complaints recently about speeding on Rebecca St. from local residents and it didn’t take long after for police to see why.

“Today officers attended the area and observed this (motorcycle) driving at 103 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone,” HRPS said this morning on Twitter. “The driver’s license is now suspended for 30 days, the (motorcycle) is impounded for 14 days and the driver must attend court.”

News of police nabbing a speeder was welcome by many, including on Twitter.

“Great news, team!,” tweeted Oakville Ward 1 Councillor Sean O’Meara. “The community thanks you.”

Even residents in other GTA locations chimed in and wished more speeders were hauled in where they live.

“Awesome,” said one twitter follower from Toronto. “I wish

@TrafficServices would nail the speedsters that race along Martin Grove late in the evening with their nosy modified vehicles.”
