Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect today (July 1) for Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville.

As of 6:47 p.m., Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to toonie size hail and heavy rain.

“This severe thunderstorm is located 5 kilometres southeast of Flamborough, moving northeast at 35 km/h,” says Environment Canada.

Residents are advised to take cover immediately when threatening weather approaches.
