Security guard at Oakville mall suffers ‘significant’ injuries to head after altercation

Halton Regional Police are appealing for witnesses or dash cam footage of an incident at an Oakville mall that resulted in a security guard sustaining “significant” injuries to his head.
Police were called to South Oakville Centre on Rebecca St. at around 1:45 p.m. Monday (June 19) and found the 75-year-old male guard with serious injuries to his head.
The man was working at the local mall when police allege he got into an altercation with another male in the north section of the parking lot.
The employee of the mall was taken to hospital and remains in serious condition.
Police arrested a 22-year-old male at the scene, though charges have not been laid. The incident is still under investigation by the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau.
