Secret robbery nets pickpockets $5,000 in Burlington

A Burlington woman has lost $5,000 following a distraction theft along a downtown street.

According to reports, the victim was approached by one of the suspects in the area of Brant Street and Caroline Street around noon on Oct. 16.

Police say the suspect distracted the woman while an accomplice stole a wallet from the victim’s purse.

Later, it is believed the culprits used the victim’s debit and credit cards which amounted to losses of $5,000.

One of the people police are looking for is a woman with a heavy build who was wearing a white puffy vest. The is no description of the second suspect who lifted the wallet.
