Oakville’s Quinn Carson is taking his baseball talents to Missouri.

The St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School graduate has announced his commitment the University of Missouri.

The outfielder was also a member of the Burlington Fieldhouse Pirates underclass roster.

“I am excited and honoured to announce my commitment to (the) University of Missouri,” said the Carson in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). “I would like to thank everyone who has made this opportunity possible. A special thanks to my family, the Fieldhouse Pirates, and the coaching staff at Missouri.”

A spot for Carson with Missouri opened after the school had a pair of players selected in the Major League Baseball draft.

The six-foot-three, 195-pound speedster has a solid all-around skillset, including providing solid defense.

“(Carson has a) long athletic build with good present strength and more to come,” said Perfect Game, a baseball scouting organization. “Aggressive through the ball in the outfield, (Carson) has clean glove work and good glove position out front, makes on line accurate throws from an upright release, solid overall outfield fundamentals and tools.”

At the plate, the right-handed hitter has a tall stance with a short stride into contact and works inside the ball with mostly right centerfield contact.

“(He) has some strength in his swing when he gets extended through the ball (and the) potential to keep growing as a hitter with his strength and potential leverage,” added Perfect Game.

The Missouri Tigers baseball program finished last season 23-32 overall in NCAA Division 1 play under second-year manager Kerrick Jackson.
