Ontario, Oakville, Christmas, Santa Claus Parade, Town of Oakville, downtown,

Jolly old St. Nick has set the date for this year’s Santa Claus Parade in Oakville.

Santa and his holiday friends are coming to town on November 16 at 9 a.m., and you and your family are invited to join them along the parade route.

This year marks the 76 anniversary of the holiday celebration which will be held downtown.

The first parade was held in 1948 by Bill Hughes, then President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. The idea originated to encourage business in downtown Oakville.

“The Oakville Santa Claus Parade is one of my favourite events that the whole community rallies behind each year to make it successful,” said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. “Council and I look forward to seeing the smiling faces lining the parade route!”

The theme this year is ‘merry and bright’!

Oakville residents can dress up in their favourite Christmas attire and are encouraged to plan ahead to get a spot along the parade route to take in the sights and sounds of all the parade floats.

A free Oakville Transit Santa shuttle from the Oakville GO Station to the Trafalgar Park Community Centre parking lot will run every five to 10 minutes starting at 8 a.m.

“The Oakville Santa Claus Parade Committee is excited the community is coming together in celebration of the parade’s milestone 76th anniversary,” said Ward 2 Councillor and Santa Claus Parade Committee Co-Chair Cathy Duddeck. “We continue to actively look for participants, sponsors, and volunteers to help make this year’s parade extra special for everyone.”

Here’s all you need to know about the annual event organized by the Town of Oakville:
