Safety blitz results in 47 trucks placed out of service in Burlington, Oakville, Halton Hills

The results are in from the local Canada Road Safety Week (CRSW) blitz by the Halton Regional Police Service and over three days of pulling over commercial vehicles more than half failed inspection.
Members of the Halton Regional Police Commercial Motor Vehicle inspection team along with officers from HRPS Oakville, HRPS Burlington and HRPS Milton/Halton Hills joined together to conduct safety inspections from Tuesday (May 16) to Thursday (May 18).
Of the 73 commercial vehicles they pulled over, 64 per cent of them failed inspection. A total of 137 Provincial Offence Notices were handed out along with 88 warnings.
The annual safety blitz resulted in the seizure of 11 sets of plates, while 47 of the commercial vehicles pulled over were placed out of service.

A total of 14 Approved Screening Device alcohol tests were done during the blitz this week with one non-commercial vehicle driver being arrested for impaired.
The inspections were conducted Tuesday in Halton Hills, Wednesday in Oakville and in Burlington on Thursday.
