Road closures, delays ahead for Milton drivers with bridge work set to begin

Bi-annual enhancements and repairs to a pair of Milton bridges are set to start and that means road closures and delays for drivers this summer.
The Town of Milton is launching its bridge rehabilitation program at the Mill/Martin Street bridge and the Main Street bridge (40 metres east of Commercial Street).
The work, which helps to extend the service life of both bridges, begins Monday and is scheduled to be complete by Sept. 30.
Project details include concrete repairs to bridge components on the surface and underside, asphalt curb and sidewalk repairs and enhancements, along with parapet wall repairs.
A road closure on the Mill/Martin Street bridge will be required to facilitate work, from July 19 to Aug. 4, 2021.
Access to Martin Street, via Mill Street, will be closed for the duration of this closure. Local access to businesses on Mill Street within the closure will be maintained. Martin Street will remain open throughout the duration of the project.
Lane restrictions only will be in effect for the Main Street East Bridge. Detour route traffic will be via James Street, Main Street East and Martin Street.
