A two-month construction blitz of stormwater management facilities in Milton is about to get underway.

“The project is required to complete the restoration of miscellaneous deficiencies at multiple pond locations in town,” said a spokesperson.

“Facility maintenance related to the scope of this project plays an essential role in the general upkeep of town-owned assets and provides an increased return on investment for our residents. This is also essential to maintain pond function, ensure adequate quantity and quantity control, and to provide environmental protection for downstream receivers such as creeks.”

Work is scheduled to take place between September and November at the following locations:

  • Pond #3 – 1078 Hepburn Road
  • Pond #5 – 496 Kearns Drive
  • Pond #6 – 1607 Beaty Trail
  • Pond #9 – 1171 Laurier Avenue
  • Pond #14 – 675 Yates Drive
  • Pond #15 – 910 Drew Centre
  • Pond #28 – 8400 Boston Church Road
  • Pond #31 – 980 Transom Court
  • Pond #56 – 11385 Taylor Court
  • Pond #57 – 161 and 201 Campbell Avenue and 50 Stokes Trail

Among the planned enhancements are concrete repairs (pond structures including inlets, outlets and ditch inlet catch basins), site grading repairs (pond banks and trails) and clearing and grubbing (remove excess vegetation).

No full road closures will be required to facilitate work, however, lane closures may be required periodically to allow contractors to access ponds and to move machinery and material in and out of the sites.

Pathways and trails in and around ponds may be closed to pedestrian traffic as required to facilitate work. This will be determined in the field on a site-by-site basis.
