Restaurants and retailers given the spotlight for Small Business Week in Oakville

Oakville is putting local establishments in the spotlight to celebrate Small Business Week.

The nationwide event has been part of municipal calendars since the 1970s and allows Ontario cities and towns to shine a light on the smaller players that make up the province’s economic engine.

As a result, today (Oct. 21), Visit Oakville highlighted five local businesses that have helped put Oakville on the map.

Ranging from restaurants, retailers and manufacturers, the Town of Oakville has noted that these local ventures keep the area thriving for residents and visitors alike.

The highlighted businesses include:

The Simple Kitchen: A grocery stop and bakery that excels in locally made treats as well as healthy food options that accommodate those with gluten and lactose intolerances and allergies. (432 Kerr St., Oakville)

Corbetts Ski + Snowboard: For the alpine inclined, this winter retailer is purpose-built for all things outdoor during cold months. In operation for 80 years, this location has supplied Oakville residents with essentials for skiing and snowboarding and additional goods for all other winter-adjacent activities. El Spero Family Restaurant: Located in the heart of Bronte Village, and operating since 1973, this essential community hotspot for cuisine has provided those in Oakville with specialized family recipes for over 50 years.
