An interactive art display in downtown Oakville encourages residents to become part of the art itself.
Roseaux is an engaging installation that features towering reeds that light up and change colours when they detect movement, making everyone part of the art.
This interactive installation of 15-foot illuminated reeds invites visitors to step onto the sensors to rhythmically propel a spectrum of colours. Step up, activate the base, and watch as a kaleidoscope of colours races up the stem.
But here’s the challenge: Can you and your friends synchronize your efforts to turn all the reeds the same solid color? It’s a fun, vibrant way to enjoy the outdoors during the darker days of winter.
The display is part of Downtown Oakville’s GLODTO event, which runs until March 24, helping infuse the final days of winter with warmth, colour and light.
In addition to the art, there is a lineup of activities designed to brighten up the winter season, including a Silent Disco night on Mar. 9, featuring the hits of Taylor Swift, as well as fire pit gathering with free hot cocoa on select weekends.
The event is being held at Towne Square, Lakeshore Rd. E. and George St., daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
