Public safety will be the focus at upcoming public meeting in Milton

An upcoming meeting is being held to discuss several aspects of public safety in Milton.
Hosted by Ward 3 Town Councillor Adil Khalqi, the Community Safety and Standards Public Meeting will bring together representatives from the Halton police, Milton bylaw enforcement and the Halton chapters of both MADD and Crime Stoppers.
“We’re not going to have anything scripted for the event,” Khalqi told halton.insauga.com. “There are no formal presentations, everyone will just talk a little bit about what they do. People who attend will be able to ask questions.”
At least part of the impetus for the event is people in Milton feeling a little bit unsafe in their neighbourhoods.
Khalqi said he’s heard from people in the community who are talking about suspicious activity, people loitering around cars or trying to break into them, stealing packages off porches.
In addition, there have been a few high-profile home-invasion style robberies the last few weeks and that has left people expressing their fear on social media.
In addition, people from Milton’s bylaw enforcement will be on hand as the Town continues to try to craft a nuisance bylaw that will hopefully improve everyone’s life.
The event is being held Saturday, Mar. 2, in the Optimist Room at Milton Sports Centre, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
