The Town of Oakville is seeking public input as it prepares a Housing Strategy and Action Plan.
Aimed at helping to improve the housing landscape in Oakville, the Housing Strategy will guide the town’s decision making and actions to build housing supply, accelerate housing delivery and improve housing choice and affordability.
To meet the municipal housing target assigned by the province, Oakville has pledged to build 33,000 new homes by 2031.
“Our Housing Strategy and Action Plan will guide our decision making specific to housing in Oakville,” said Mayor Rob Burton. “Your input will refine our strategy and ensure that our community’s housing needs are reflected in our plan’s goals and objectives.”
An online survey is now available until Oct. 22, 2023 with additional engagement opportunities coming soon. A strategy reflecting public input will be presented to Council for approval in early 2024.
The Housing Strategy is centred around six goals and objectives and includes nearly 70 actions that can be taken to achieve positive housing outcomes.
The housing plan was presented to Town Council on July 10 earlier this year.
