UPDATE: Protests shut down major roads in Oakville
Published February 10, 2024 at 3:25 pm
Halton police say the protests have ended and all roadways that were closed have reopened.
Police are asking people to avoid certain areas in Oakville today due to protests.
Halton Regional Police posted a tweet on X (formerly Twitter) around 2:30 p.m., advising residents and others that may be in the vicinity to steer clear of Lakeshore Road near Allan Street and Navy Street because of an ongoing protest.
Police didn’t specify which protests and demonstrations they’re referring to, but there have been numerous public protests since late last year in the GTA and beyond over the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Additionally, authorities have not provided a time of when they expect the protest to conclude.
