A family business in Oakville is hosting its 25 anniversary and will have a special guest to help mark the day.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford will be on hand to help Access Abilities Oakville, a family-owned and operated home healthcare store, celebrate its anniversary with a community event Thursday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at 549 Bronte Rd.

Premier Ford will give a speech at 3 p.m.

With co-founders and owners Kristin and David Courtney and children Melody and Aaron all working together along with their staff at the Oakville and Etobicoke locations, Access Abilities is a true family venture.

Daughter Karla assists with marketing and their website from the U.K.
“Access Abilities is much more than a store,” said Kristin. “While we sell many items that can help with mobility, we have a true passion for helping others live the best life that they can, every day.”

The healthcare store first opened its doors in 1998 in Oakville, providing sales and rentals of products such as wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walkers, stairlifts, CPAP, bathroom and bedroom safety.

The multi-award-winning medical devices establishment is an authorized vendor of the Assistive Devices Program, Ontario Disability Support Program, March of Dimes, Veterans Affairs Canada and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.

The company also spends hours supporting local charitable organizations and initiatives, such as the Veterans Appreciation Luncheon (attended annually by hundreds of Veterans) and Annual Medical Professionals Conference to showcase excellence in the home healthcare industry.

The Oakville business also regularly hosts strawberry shortcake and ice cream socials and complimentary walker clinics. They also contribute to many local organizations such as Community Living, Acclaim Health and CharterAbility.

All are welcome to attend the anniversary event. Light refreshments will be served.
