A major power outage that occurred in two areas after an early Thursday morning storm has been repaired, says Burlington Hydro.

After restoring power in the Central area earlier, crews completed repairs in the Maple area just after noon.

Over 1,800 hydro customers were impacted by the outage, which took place inside the areas of Fairview St. to the north, Drury Lane to the east, New St. to the south and Maple Ave. to the west.

Burlington Hydro provided updates on social media throughout the morning as they worked to complete the repairs.

“The outage in the Central area has been caused by the storm this morning,” said Burlington Hydro in a tweet on the X platform. “Crews are working to remove a fallen tree from a powerline and restore power.”

The local power company thanked residents in the area for their patience during repairs, but some didn’t hold back their frustration over the outage.

“Come on, it’s been out since 4 a.m.,” said one tweet. “We can’t do anything.”

Others were grateful for getting the power back on.

“Thanks to all involved with getting the power back on,” said Mike Reaume in a tweet. “With this hot weather, it’s much appreciated.”
