Power knocked out in a large section of Burlington

A major power outage has hit a location section of Burlington.

Burlington Hydro reports 1,755 customers are currently affected in the Headon Forest community near the Dundas St. and Hwy. 407 area.

Reports indicate the outage has been caused by damaged equipment from high winds.

“Crews are working are on the scene working on restoring power,” Burlington Hydro reports.

The power went out around 6:30 p.m. this evening (Jan. 12).

Estimates indicate power should be restored by 11 p.m.

Earlier in the day the public utility issued a warning that adverse weather conditions could cause disruptions for the rest of the day and well into tomorrow.

“We’re monitoring the weather today and over the weekend. We have extra crews on standby that are ready to respond to any outages that may occur due to the anticipated storm,” is the message Burlington Hydro has shared via social media channels.
