High gusts of wind that knocked over a tree are reportedly the reason behind downed power lines in Burlington.
As a result, Burlington Hydro reports that 1,752 customers are currently without power in the northeast part of the city.
The area hit hardest is the neighbourhood in the Palladium Way and Tim Dobbie Dr. area in Alton Village.
The high winds started around 2 p.m. (July 6) and appear to be moving east with many reports coming in about fallen branches.
Burlington Hydro predicts that power to this affected neighbourhood should be restored by 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, another outage, this time a planned one, in the Woodview Rd. and Rexway Dr. area.
This outage has disrupted service for about 50 customers as workers for the utility carry out maintenance. Power should be restored here by 4 p.m.
