Popular home furnishing store in Oakville one of 54 locations closing

The popular Bed Bath & Beyond store in Oakville has been busy after the American-owned company announced in early February its Canadian operations are going out of business.

The retailer made the announcement two days after it quickly raised cash to hold off a U.S. bankruptcy.

The Canadian division operates 54 Bed Bath & Beyond stores, including the Dorval Crossing location at 200 North Service Rd. W.

According to the filing, the company employed nearly 400 full time employees and over 1,000 part-time workers.

An employee at the Oakville location said a date for when it will close its doors has yet to be announced.

Shoppers in the meantime can get some good deals with all items in the local store going between 20 to 40 per cent off.
